Project Controls / Scheduling Junior

CALGARY OR EDMONTON HOMEBASE / CONTRACT

This position is a camp position with the chance to fly in and out to and from Calgary or Edmonton; may require additional travel to other plant sites. The Role:

We’re looking for a Project Controls / Scheduling Junior (contract position). This position is a camp position with the chance to fly in and out to and from Calgary or Edmonton; may require additional travel to other plant sites. Location: Conklin, AB (fly-in / fly-out from Edmonton or Calgary hub), various plant sites

Salary: $30-$35/hr


Position Type: Contract

Duration: 1-2 years, potential for renewal for the right person

  • Modified 4 day work week requiring 10 or 12 hour shifts

  • Shift schedule that may change during turnaround events requiring evenings, weekends, or work on holidays

  • Fly-in and fly-out to and from Edmonton or Calgary

  • Various plant sites that may require travel

  • Camp accommodations

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Working directly for the teams Project Control Manager, you’ll help with:

  • Preparing estimates and budgets, and managing change control

  • Proactively identifying, tracking, and managing risks to project success

  • Quickly and effectively communicate project status and escalations to key stakeholders

  • Preparing, supporting, and maintaining quality, value-added analytical reports like:

    • Project cost & budget reports,

    • Cash flow reports,

    • Project metrics dashboards, etc.

  • Monitoring schedule float and critical paths, man hours, cost progress and applicable metrics to establish trends and assist in schedule and cost forecasts

  • Reviewing invoices and comparing them for accuracy against purchase orders and contracts

  • Assisting in setting up and maintaining project schedules, cost control systems, and documentation

  • Supporting in other ways as-needed: Manage maintenance scheduling, cost controls, and project scheduling

Need to Have:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Detail oriented and organized

  • Strong written and communication skills

  • Ability to think critically and problem solve

  • Quick learner who takes direction well

  • Previous experience working at site in the oil & gas industry

  • Valid class V driver’s license with clean driving record

  • CSTS / WHMIS

Nice to Haves:

  • Graduate with a degree in related field: Engineering, Technology, Science, Project Management, Business, Finance

  • Primavera P6 proficiency

  • Experience working in Maximo and Maximo Scheduler

  • 1-3 years related experience in a project control work environment

  • The successful candidate may be subject to pre-access drug & alcohol testing.
